The nature of work continues to change at a rapid pace. According to Mercer’s recent Thriving in an Age of Disruption research:

Keeping up-to-date on pay levels for these new and emerging jobs is more important than ever. The Canada NewWorkNow Compensation Pulse Survey is a series of pulse surveys designed to help you keep up with this constantly changing environment. With two surveys in 2018 — February and July — and results publishing just one month after participation, get the data you need now, faster. Data on base pay, short and long-term incentives, and sign-on bonuses are being collected along with several pay policies and practices.

The first edition of the Canada NewWorkNow Compensation Pulse Survey opens for participation February 26, 2018 with a data effective date of January 1, 2018. Jobs included with this survey will vary by survey cycle to reflect the continuous evolution of roles. The first edition will capture Professional and Manager level jobs for the following job families:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Digital Marketing and Product Development
  • Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
  • Data Science

If you participate in Mercer’s Canada Mercer Benchmark Database (MBD), you will see that these jobs are also a part of that survey, which has an effective date of April 1, 2018. Because these jobs are changing continuously, we recommend that you submit data to both surveys to insure you receive the most current data.

Survey Methodology

Mercer surveys are designed using the most accurate and up-to-date market data practices. Data is collected from HR professionals at participating organizations (never employee self-reported) and then analyzed for validity, thoroughness, and market representation based on the organization's size, structure, geographic region, or a combination of these factors. A minimum number of incumbents, organizations, and distinct organizations are required in order to report each data element. If minimums are not met, the market data is suppressed, ensuring you the highest level of data confidentiality.
