FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Workforce Metrics includes a set of performance and productivity calculations based on your workforce's demographics, the profile of jobs in your company, and the payroll cost associated with your active and inactive employees. Workforce metrics can give you an indication of your organization's effectiveness on such questions as turnover, revenue/employee, gender equity and diversity, span of control and much more. HR Metrics by contrast are the performance and productivity calculations associated with the effectiveness of the HR Function itself. These tend to focus on key sub-functions within HR where efficiency and effectiveness are readily measured and monitored including recruitment, training and payroll in particular. Benchmarking can apply to ALL types of metrics and is generally understood as the ability to compare oneself or one's own organization to the market.

Your WFM subscription provide you online access to the WFM dashboards for an unlimited number of users. You will be able to benchmark your organization's metrics against a market you define. You will also have access to our historical databases for the past 2 years in addition to the edition of the data to which you subscribe. The Dashboards include Organizational Movements, Financial Productivity, and Organizational Structure. In addition, you have the ability to export any of your workforce metrics results to either PDF or excel for later use.

The Workforce Metrics Solution provides data across an exhaustive list of industries and can be filtered by industries and sectors that can be applied to any regional or country-specific dashboards that you may be working with. The industry filters include Banking/Financial Services, Consumer Goods, Energy, High Tech, Insurance/Reinsurance, Life Sciences, Mining & Metals, Other Durable Goods Manufacturing, Other Non-Durable Goods Manufacturing, Other Non-Manufacturing, Retail & Wholesale, Services (Non-Financial), and Transportation Equipment. In addition it is possible to get comprehensive global access to one of two industries: Life Sciences and Consumer Goods.

At this time, we are pleased to offer global access to Life Sciences and Consumer Goods data.

A company's size (number of employees and revenues) is based on its footprint in each country for which we have collected data. This is not worldwide or headquarters demographics.

All clients who provide adequate data to the WFM questions in our data collection kits will receive a complimentary executive summary report.

Data are updated from September through November each year. A detailed publication schedule by country can be accessed at www.imercer.com/wfm-regions.

Within each country, a minimum of 20 companies are included in our samples. Access is generally by sub-region which affords users the opportunity to combine data from countries of comparable maturity and market characteristics to improve the density of the data they are working with in smaller markets.

Yes, but peer groups needs to be set up by Mercer in the tool. Please contact your regional metrics contact to work through a robust peer group and set this up in the tool.

If you have submitted complete data through the normal data collection cycle then it will be possible to enable the "compare my data" feature upon request.

In the WFM tool there are separate export reports which can provide easy to use export capabilities within the tool.

FTEs are Full-time Equivalent Employees - a prorated calculation adjusting for part-time and job sharing arrangements to represent full-time work effort. Total Employees is a simple count of all individuals who are employed regardless of their work schedule. Where an organization has a significant portion of part-time staff, or job-sharing arrangements, their total employee count will be higher than the Full-time Equivalent Employee Count.

For both Span of Control and structure in general data are available for the organization overall. Further segmentation of this data is not available at this time.

Diversity metrics is not currently covered in Mercer's metrics solution currently.

All data for the WFM Solution are collected through Mercer's compensation and benefits surveys - notably TRS and MBD. Participants in these surveys respond to key questions about their turnover, workforce and cost structure.

This is varies for each organization and depends on the number of countries and as well as effectiveness of organization's HRIS.

Your best option is to subscribe to the global Consumer Goods industry data, and supplement that with either key region access or specific country data as needed. You will then be able to use both general industry and Consumer Goods data in those markets where you have subscribed to both. A complete listing of the regions and countries available through WFM can be found at www.imercer.com/wfm-regions.

The Workforce Metrics Solution is a subscribed offer. Access to individual metrics are not available at this time.
