17023 - Cashier

Receives funds from customers and records monetary transactions incidental to the conduct of a retail sales business. Counts money to verify amounts and issues receipts for funds received using a cash register. May perform some or all of the following: prepare bank deposits, make cash disbursements or prepare checks in payment of approved expenditures, and perform related clerical duties. May maintain appearance of store and/or restock merchandise. Typically reports to the Store Manager or Head Cashier in larger stores.
