Cost-of-Living Allowance Calculator

The cost of living allowance (COLA) is one of the main
elements that allows firms to determine the net host country pay based on the home
country balance sheet approach. The Cost-of-Living Allowance Calculator has been
designed to give you the flexibility to determine this allowance according to your
company's own policy.

The calculator provides the COLA result by entering the
following fields:
- Base salary - Gross salary (COLA calculator
provides the net salary)/ net salary and tick accordingly
- Salary currency
- Family size of the employee
- Spendable income portion of the net salary - Three options:
- Mercer's recommended SI for countries where the survey is available
(Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany,
Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom,
United States)
- 60% is the SI available by default for countries where
the survey is not available
- Enter the portion that you need
- Fill in the COL Index settings
